Upgrading WCM software.

I am upgrading the website this evening.  After the upgrades, I am going to leave things in a temporary theme for a while. Sorry for the mess.

Overcoming SELinux when changing the default MySQL data directory

This evening, I chose to install MySQL 5.5 instead of accepting the 5.1 version that shipped with my CentOS 6  Linux distribution.  After dutifully downloading the binaries and successfully installing the RPMs, I received the following error message when starting mysqld:

Linux Software RAID-1 Rebuild


Hard DriveWell, I have just received the RMA replacement of my failed Samsung HD204UI 2TB drive.  Now it is time to put the drive back into my Linux server and rebuild the RAID-1 (mirror) array so that the data resumes its highly-available state.  Here are the steps I took:

Well, I have finally taken a few minutes out of a weekend to track down the cause of an annoyance lingering in the syslog of my NAS server.  A file server where I host both NFS and SMB/CIFS resources. The annoying entry in my logs was the following:

I have just finished moving the site to a new hosting location.  Still working through minor adjustments.  Things like re-establishing my theme are high on the priority list.

resolv.conf Options

I have found the following two resolv.conf options to be extremely usefulAIX logo when standing up AIX systems that are tethered to a Microsoft DNS solution:

options timeout:1
options attempts:1 

The timeout option sets the initial timeout for a query to a nameserver. By default this is 5 seconds in AIX 6.1.

Eclipse Android Icon

 I am starting to delve into Andoid application development.  As such, I  needed an appropriate application launcher icon to represent my Android-oriented Eclipse IDE environment.  I took a stock android logo and the eclipse icon.xpm from my base IDE directory and stirred them together with GIMP.  It still needs some clean-up work, but here is what I came up with.
